Applications open for the MA in Financial Journalism at City, University of London

From the global financial crisis of 2008 to this week’s jitters about tech stocks, from Brexit to budgets, financial and economic news continues to dominate the headlines and shape the political agenda. Demand for high-quality financial journalism is greater than ever.

Applications are now open for the prestigious, highly competitive MA in financial journalism at City, University of London. This unique course trains students to the highest professional standards and equips them with the skills and knowledge needed to work in a fast-paced multimedia environment. Its graduates continue to be in high demand, despite the digital disruption that has hit other types of reporting. Many have gone on to work in some of the biggest and best-known news organisations in the world, including the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Reuters, CNBC and the BBC.

International excellence scholarships, which cover the full tuition costs of the programme and are only available for this course, are offered through the generosity of the Marjorie Deane Financial Journalism Foundation. The foundation also subsidises a study-abroad module during the 10-month course with trips to New York and Shanghai (pictured).

The deadline for applications is Monday 1st April 2019 for Overseas Scholarship candidates.

The selection criteria are: academic achievement and promise; relevant practical journalism experience; the potential to make a difference to the practice of financial journalism in a student’s home country.
