Myles McCormick joins the Financial Times as a Marjorie Deane intern

Myles McCormick joined the Financial Times as a Marjorie Deane intern earlier this year and has written several stories about the energy industry.

I am hugely grateful to the Marjorie Deane Financial Journalism Foundation for giving me the opportunity to work at the Financial Times. I have been covering the energy beat for the majority of my internship, which has allowed me to write across a wide variety of topics from UK nuclear investment and strife on North Sea oil rigs to bust electricity providers and Cornish drilling projects. The programme has given me the opportunity to hone my skills as a journalist – working closely with and learning from many of the excellent reporters and editors at the FT, as well as meeting key figures in the industry. Previously I worked as a freelance reporter in Ireland and South America. I trained as a journalist at the Euromoney Group, where I covered mining markets. I hold a BA in Politics and Economics and an MSc in International Management, both from Trinity College Dublin.
