- Studentship: London School of Economics, 2007-08
I won a studentship from the foundation to study for a master’s in finance and economics at the LSE. Upon completion of the degree, I moved into trading at HSBC in London, where I was a market-maker in the Emerging Markets Currency Group, trading Asian non-deliverable forwards. At the end of my analyst programme, I moved back to the United States, and am now an investment consultant specialising in the alternatives space.
The studentship opened a lot of doors for me, and I truly appreciate the foundation’s support. Throughout my time at the LSE and HSBC, I had the chance to spend a few weeks at The Economist and write a few stories for the newspaper. I am a much better writer as a result, and I am a much better person for having met the people there.
