The Foundation

The Marjorie Deane Financial Journalism Foundation was set up in 1998 by Marjorie Deane. The formal purposes of the foundation are:

To advance the education of the public in financial and monetary theory and institutions and financial journalism and in particular by:

The provision of work experience for students and young people at The Economist or some other suitable organisation, and the provision of financial support during such work experience.

The commissioning of research into a subject having a connection with financial institutions, financial theory and investments, and where appropriate making arrangements for the publication of the results.

The provision of vocational training in journalism for persons who are unemployed or have been made redundant.
