We are pleased to announce the appointment of Guy Monson as a new trustee of the Marjorie Deane Financial Journalism Foundation.
Mr Monson joined the Sarasin Group in 1984 and became Chief Investment Officer in 1997 and Managing Partner of Sarasin & Partners LLP London in 2008. He was also the first English Partner of Bank Sarasin, one of Switzerland´s oldest private banks.
He has been manager (and now co-manager) of Sarasin´s GlobalSar family of balanced investment funds since 1988 and holds one of the longest continuous investment records in the industry. In 1996 he pioneered a new thematic approach to global equity management and has remained the co-manager of the Sarasin EquiSar Global Thematic funds since then. He manages a range of institutional global thematic equity and global balanced mandates in various regulatory jurisdictions.
Educated at Eton College and Oxford University, where he graduated in Economics, Mr Monson counts classical music, economic history and amateur engineering among his hobbies. He is a prolific writer on investment issues, penning the lead article in the Sarasin House Report every quarter for the last 20 years. He is a frequently quoted in the press on matters related to global investment and economics.
Mr Monson is involved in many endowment and philanthropic activities, including as founding trustee of the Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry, chairman of the Lady Margaret Hall Oxford Advisory Council and chairman of the City Salute Appeal for the Armed forces in 2008.
Mr Monson is married to Rose and they have two daughters Olivia and Leonora. The family lives in London and Suffolk with their two dogs, Mini and Major.
